The question behind the question of evolution and intelligent design

by Underground Panther in the Sky, Unknown News

Aug. 5, 2005

OK, I am going to set a few things out here. There are my opinions, based on observations of evolution, faith and intelligent design ideas VS the reality I see when I look at the world.

I am neither a scientist nor a religious believer in Jesus or any other gods. I am a Malthiest, frankly, with a gnostic bent, and I like Sekhmet as my metaphysical comfort blankie. OK, so I’m a mystical atheist seeking answers beyond religion and science, respectful of science but a mystic seeker nonetheless.

I am aware there are a lot of unknowns in this world, so right now I want people to know I am no scientist or theologian. I am asking questions. Saying stuff implied or just not said. There are a lot of selective arguing, dogmatic assumptions, and underlying agendas in the arguments on evolution versus intelligent design issues. I want to look underneath it all, and wonder what is going in with US with life. Why?

The theory of evolution, as I understand it, rests on the premise that "nature" weeds out individuals in any species that cannot adapt to changes nature creates. It weeds out the weak, by destroying them, but evolution is IMPERSONAL.

When people practice eugenics, they are "helping out" nature, because they want to control evolution itself -- and weed out people they don't like from the gene pool. Apparently genocide is effective. That’s why we have no Neanderthals and a lot of tribes are no more. The Kogi Indians are being wiped out as we speak. Genocide effects animals and people. Interspecies genocide by human consumption killed off the passenger pigeon, thanks to our demands for feathers. It is horrible when the forces of evolution get "intelligent," and have a purpose affixed to it, to its ugliness through HUMANS.

If a creator left the creation process open to human or animal Tinkering, so a species could ‘ape’ evolution to make itself prosper, that wasn't very intelligent, was it? Or was it? Despite all the adapting nature imposes, life apparently still makes sure that every living thing dies. Death happens with uncanny regularity and predictability, like almost NOTHING ELSE in the known universe that I can think of.

Nothing is as STABLE and predictable as death. Not even taxes. If you look at it as a probability thing, it's like tossing a coin asking will I die? ... and getting heads (yes) every fucking time as long as life has been here. What are the chances of THAT? What are the chances of that applying that to every living creature? Boy, that is proof of INTELLIGENT design, ain't it (*sarcasm*). YOU and everyone you know, every living thing you’ve hated and every living thing you’ve loved will die someday, and they will never know when, or how. Isn't that fun? (*sarcasm* again)

Death feeds soil, and helps the plants grow. It feeds bugs. Yeah, but WHY does it have to be done THAT way? And why do we have to know our turn to die is coming, but never know when? Doesn't that feel a bit sadistic? Nature is obviously red in tooth and claw, and if nature doesn't kill you, old age will. You can actually live too long to live any more, let alone fight to Survive -- so success kills too, apparently.

When I hear people talk about evolution there is an implied but unspoken assumption in what they say, which is, that evolution evolves a species as a whole into a better, stronger, more healthy, wiser, more efficient population by selecting out those who cannot adapt to the trauma, competition, and violent changes.

What exactly would evolutionary success look like? The dinosaurs were predators, feared by many other species. They were the top of the heap, they were healthy and successful, and their bones litter the Earth. Just one meteor and they were out of here. So much for that.

Evolution is doing no better in our modern world, by torturing it. In fact, our present-day top predator (us) is about to destroy the whole world by using it up, abusing it, polluting it, and draining its resources dry.

Evolution is "nature", forcing species doomed to suffer and die to compete against one another in a race to dominate one another, just to live another day. It’s an ongoing race for success on the backs of the unfortunates, and we humans have got that down pat. But we still suffer and die and perhaps some of us (too many) will breed a few more of our own kind who will also fight, lose or win, breed more, some will last longer some will not, all will suffer and die . For WHAT?

We humans are so evolved, such a pinnacle of life’s accomplishments (or so we tell ourselves) we are systematically killing our own chances for survival. And we are taking the whole planet down with us. We’re a whisker away from our own Armageddon, if only we just go a little more crazy, get a little more selfish, stupid, aggressive, shortsighted, and greedy, a little more obedient to the masters, and invent a few more toxic things to sell, set off a few more bombs and tempers in other countries ... we just might kill ourselves. Humanity will be the first species to kill a planet off and die by its own hands!

Did you ever stop to think there is something ghastly about this process we are participating in? Why can't we stop ourselves? Why is evolution so traumatic, vicious, bloody and pointless when it is experienced up close? And where are the tangible benefits to all this death and carnage? Civilization? Success? Not really. To the individuals caught in the thick of battle for "natural selection," trauma changes them forever. And traumatized people can morph into the monsters they fear.

Mix trauma with strange notions about bloodlines, God and country, strength, noble struggle, strife is life, and it’s as if our most primitive past has overridden out heart. A penchant for domination or a call for racial identity sometimes emerge, strangling our ability to love a person who’s different in any way. Some people take such “pride” in their heritage, it's like they fancy themselves champions of one genetic type.

Alongside an obedience to the leaders who are ruining our planet, racists want to destroy other people too. Anyone different. A reaction complex forms in their heads that literally colors the way they see the world. They are forever trapped in US vs THEM. Winner or loser, zero sum thinkers. And sometimes, if these losers who imagine themselves winners are charismatic enough, they can commit mass genocide against the competing races: Eugenics. It’s the only time evolution fancies itself intelligent by design.

Why in the hell would we evolve consciousness, an awareness of our own impending guaranteed death, why would we develop empathy for suffering if we are subjected to such impersonal destruction? And why do these bigot fuckheads insist on destroying everyone who’s different than they are? I gotta ask, wouldn't becoming a sociopath bully be "success"? Wouldn't an emotionless hive mind be more efficient? What has this consciousness of ours gained us, but a more vicious, destructive kind of insanity, and an intensification of the sense of futility about life (a futility few dare speak of directly)?

The Dinosaurs ... I wonder what they would think of all this. And I wonder if they'd care? Probably not. I think they'd eat us like Screaming Yellow Zonkers, Poppycock, or Popeye’s popcorn shrimp.

I think mankind, on a deep level, has manufactured a reason for killing the planet and himself, on a species level. It might not be rational or emotional or sane, it might not make sense ... unless seen except through the lens of trauma being expressed in the genetics and consciousness itself.

Could it be consciousness evolved to protect the body, and becoming aware of itself, the world, harm and death through experience and imagination, it saw all that could happen to it, and it could not overcome the fear. It could not stop the evolutional imperative calling to mate, to fight, compete, win, etc. in others so it shattered on impact.

Maybe consciousness itself cannot cope with such conflicting inner dissonant "programming" of reality VS what could be but is not... of love and survival at the same time without intensifying the kind of cognitive dissonance that makes us split inside to ever more complex selves? Like a fractal you see in nature, consciousness has grown in complexity in our minds through our stressed imaginations. We become more complex and diverse in our MINDS, just like the animals and plants do, and civilizations do, with enough traumas in the world and enough diversity in our imaginations the world cannot hold it all, so we do....One agenda of instinct, conquer, and survival VS one of the desire of dreams, of expanding consciousness, freedom, sharing, beauty, love and gentleness.

Do we resist evolution or dreams because we know nothing alive gets out of here alive? Or do we embrace it because we all are gonna die anyway? Are we aware deep down nature itself battles within us and our very genes may or may not resist death and our fear of change runs so deep so we let our consciousness dream and create fantasies in this impermanent uncertain existence while our deep bodies are telling us we want de-selection? The high suicide rate, homicide rate, pollution rates, drug abuse, deaths, wars and accidents speak volumes about our confused unspoken suicidal desires as a species. Maybe as a species, we want out of the game of survival.

We know our love for others is a battle we fight for, even against our own families sometimes. Politically and evolution-wise, we are told to abhor weakness, failures, to shun the lazy, fear the sick, hate the deviant, different, or deformed. Those society-wide standards (unconscious eugenics) say nature has not smiled upon them ... our survival depends on our strengths and readiness to compete, so we are told ... But we are conscious of what could be, and we have that kindheartedness and empathy that makes sense to us as individuals and even sometimes as cultures.

That love helps us survive disasters, and love might even get us through the kind of disaster that killed the dinosaurs and evolved them into birds ... But that love that protects what nature would de-select is hated by survival might makes right evolution. Diversity is a necessary component to keep a species alive, yet racists don't get it. They only love their own kind.

Why? Love, any way it is expressed, even when it is WARPED into sick racist forms, it defies the random thoughtless cruelty of evolution somehow. Even when love is so sick it is thoughtless random and cruel.

And the more sociopaths who cannot feel love among us, the more we are weakened as a species. Sociopaths are those who see justification in ideas like death to the weak, winner takes all, and might makes right. Are sociopaths agents of evolution, opting out of the game at the same time they glorify it and serve it? How insane is that? Are racist assholes a voice of evolution? For their hateful talk is as senseless to the heart as a disease hell-bent on wiping out all the elm tress on the east coast.

So were elm trees really unfit to exist on the East Coast? When it came to the elm blight on the east coast a few decades ago, they did not survive it. Even when we tried to fight on their behalf, the elms died. Even when we tried to fight the Nazis, a lot of Jews in Germany died too. Why? Why couldn't we see the patterns? We say NEVER FORGET, yet genocide is happing again and again. Men who love power love evolution, and love being its intelligent designers. And evolution sees no problem with it. So I have an ethical problem with evolution's lack of ethics.

Now we’ve got the Christians pushing for "intelligent design" theory, which implies there is an "intelligent" designer. When I look at how this world is, all I see in the "design" is horror, senseless competition, misery, injustice, blood 'n' guts, devouring, shitting, infecting screaming, desperate, sick, ignorant, elitist, bullshit, denial, death and all this futility.

We never seem to learn what it is exactly that torments us so, because we do not get HONEST about it and we play make believe. We lie to ourselves and each other. Wars and more wars, bigger weapons, rape, abuse ... we model nature's cruelty upon each other too, and too well. We make it PERSONAL ... and we do not know how to stop perpetrators any more than we could foresee how to stop an elm blight until after the damage was already done.

An intelligent designer would have given better instructions for maintaining its creation, don't you think? A self-repairing world, and a manual for its creatures to know what they should not do that would FUCK up their world. A users manual that is clearly written would have definitely been an intelligent idea. The Bible, Koran, Torah, and other texts have failed to be good users’ manuals. How many inquisitions and dark ages and hate-filled fundamentalists do you need to prove that point?

Like the rational scientist, the religious believe all this death, futility, insanity, and mayhem has a purpose, a method to its madness. There is a delicate beauty in the way a bear shreds a salmon that is fighting its way upstream to spawn where it was born and its parents died and where it would have died if the bear was not hungry at that moment. Believers in a purpose to all this see an incredible artistry in the way trees are made, and they overlook the fact that trees die from acid rain, spewed into the air by the shortsighted self-appointed 'stewards' of this torture chamber, so they don't have to bust their own humps walking to and fro, not when a machine can do it ... a machine that kills the "host" world we need to live.

Does that sound like an intelligent design?

Look, I dunno about you all, but evolution apparently occurs .. and I have to agree that it can be observed happening. And at first I think it may have no purpose to it. But I wonder. It is all random changes and yet death is the least random thing I can imagine on Earth, and this randomness it is responsible for all death and suffering. How in the hell did it get so consistent on this ONE issue, death?

Evolution is actually a very sadistic process for an individual to be subjected to personally, but in an impersonal way it is all supposed to be for good. And like god, the "creator" it is no respecter of persons, and neither are we.

So I ask you, why should I believe in something or some random 'force' of biology or manifest destiny or chance that does not respect My Life at least as much as you respect your life? Evolution does not care if you live or die, it will kill you one way or another, and the forces of evolution will murder and decay everything that you ever loved in the march of time. The competition to pass on whatever selective adaptations will continue without you and me.

Why are we so conscious of this horrid process, yet in such denial and fascination about it? It makes us crazy, and I think deep down this is the real reason why we are destroying this world, and why we do not stop the psychotic George Bush, and why we let the sociopaths overrun our societies, and why we let corporations destroy faster and more... Because whether you think it was designed on purpose or not, this is one ghastly creation. Either it must have been made by a monster madman "architect", or if you think it is evolving, you gotta wonder (if you have a heart at all and love beauty and the better parts of life) what kind of a random, thoughtless, ghastly cruel, sadistic, inefficient method of improvement evolution is, in practice, that for all appearances improves nothing in life except make life better able to kill itself by killing each other.

And regardless of what you believe about designer or no designer, just observe evolution in action and see how life must kill to live to survive ... just to die!

Imagine a beautiful lioness hunting. She dashes out to catch a gazelle. See her tear apart a young living gazelle to feed her ever so adorable purring cubs on the pulsing lifeblood and dead body of an animal who wanted to live its life too. Its body fought as hard as it could to live, but just couldn't run fast enough to save herself, as the gazelle’s mother and herd ran away, abandoning her, perhaps watching her die in a most gruesome way, a safe distance from the lion’s racing heart and chewing teeth. Soon all the gazelles will be dead, and the whole pride of lions will die too -- for WHAT?

And the babies and cubs for all generations will be born, to compete fight, face traumas ,maybe reproduce and maybe be eaten but definitely to die. For WHAT?

Tell me, HOW is this game of life and death sane, good, or purposeful? What PROOF does anyone have that it makes sense in any way? What is there that proves this is anything but a struggle that ends in futile carnage, now and later? We don't even know WHAT about life that makes life conscious of itself yet! And still I can't find any explanations of how this is anything but what it is, unless it is an assumption or belief based on FAITH.

All this faith in the "Designer/Creator" tends to imply the creator is really a goodhearted, wise, benevolent, blameless being. Why worship it if this is the world it creates? Why worship death? Why trust this “creator” if it is not respectful of your life?

The creator’s kind wisdom is not observable here on earth, apparently. So despite the carnage I just gotta trust a believer or a book claiming the designer who designed me and the whole earth to suffer and die to evolve into something else really cares about ME ... and all the creatures it creates abuses and kills. To me, this designer looks sadistic, impersonal, and worse, he seems to be an insane asshole, despite all faithfuls protestations to the contrary of what my own eyes see.

But the scientist has to admit it, you have a kind of faith too. Faith in evolution, when you say random chances over time will work it all out, life evolves by tortures, traumas, deaths to get elsewhere someday, and that elsewhere is implied as "improvement," streamlining.

There is another option. To avoid faith in godly designers, do we need to have faith the universe's random chance generator now? Do we need to believe the random generator is really not all that random? Does the random chance evolve life? By torturing and killing to make something better, more complex?

I am no world designer but it's strange that I myself could easily think of a better way to treat my creation, to show my love to it, if I was a maker of worlds. How come God can't do this too? Why does God require us to deny reality's Imperfections? Why does he make his "words" so damn cryptic, convoluted and basically hard to swallow, and why does he make so many of his followers jerks?

Science claims life must be evolving. It has evolved over millions, billions of years of senseless carnage, into some better form of species ... somehow. Right?

The random weeding out of the living and the weak who can't cope with the rigors of “survival of the fittest” is might-makes-right on an impersonal level right? Nature has this wisdom. Uh Huh. Science is still faithful, full of faith that everything is getting better, without calling it God.

Tell me what species always wins and adapts to all changes nature brings like hurricanes, meteor impacts, famine, predators, illness, age. All this bloodshed must eventually have a good ending, right? Who of all species has actually (not in a book or dream) adapted beyond natural death, besides certain one-celled creatures? And yet one-celled creatures still get eaten and die, and mitosis doesn't look too pleasant either.

What if life DOESN'T get better through evolution, by suffering, carnage, and certain death? What if what doesn't kill me does NOT make me stronger, but just makes me traumatized? Traumatized enough to endure more tests of survival? Nobody likes to think of that as an option. In a universe made of countless probabilities, I am surprised nobody talks of it!

Why is it an improvement that the most successful predator-abuser-exploiter -- mankind -- is hell-bent on destroying the one earth it depends on to survive as a species? How is that evolving ? Scientists, do you have an answer to that yet? How is this invention of ours -- civilization -- anything but a collective suicidal traumatized half-conscious, murderous rage reaction against the brutal sadism of nature?

Empire, what biological entity is it modeled upon, most likely? What are its effects upon this earth, if you observe it? An eternally growing, consuming, parasitic cancer, a tumor that kills its host to live forever, an eternal city ... until it slowly starves and kills the host keeping it so prosperous, and we all die.

By appearances, what we call “civilization” is a kind of cancer on a planetary level. It could be a battle fought in life itself to live or die, the HEART of evolution. The struggle, a battle in life that is half-aware of the potentiality of a future for itself in evolution terms.

Has humanity decided to FIGHT against death or destroy the game of evolution by becoming a conscious being, and basically creating a deadly civilization that is planet cancer ? Is THIS how we are trying to escape the torture chamber? Instead of just becoming extinct from the earth, we are dragging it all with us like cancer does, into mass extinction and host death? Why? Is THIS the purpose of humanity, to suffer and die or become a species cancer, when we do not obey nature’s commands to off ourselves like our cells do in our own bodies when their DNA is corrupted and weak?

Or is it something else? Something perverse WE participate in but do not yet see why? I do not know, but if you look at the way things appear on a planetary level with human civilization, it looks like a possibility to consider. From my observation it is clear we are committing planetary homicide/suicide, and we are divided over it. We are in effect undecided about ending the trauma of evolution, by choice, forever.

Maybe we say yes to nature’s de-selection because maybe deep down we want a better life than torture and randomness, and the whims of evolution are torturous and random, so we believe in progress growth, human potential for a reason. But when we see the damage we have done with our escape attempts via a so-called great (socially-engineered) civilization, we might know in our genetic or molecular selves, we are out of here already. And the pollution and destruction is overlooked and permitted to go on, because we "won." We are out of here, and the earth will die with us. Could it be? WTF?

We do not seek to destroy everything we love in our conscious thoughts and body, yet more and more sociopaths do walk among us. They exploit us and abuse us, unchallenged. Evolution's senseless murder in a human guise perhaps, like the racist reich was or elm blight? The destruction goes on and we do not really do what it takes to stop it. We do not stop it. Why not? Are we as a species, deep down in our most sub of subconsciousness, suicidal because of the traumas EVOLUTION has wrought upon our very molecules? It's a question to ask.

And what of the "creator god" who says he will make it all work out and FIX it all.. make a new world... what to make of that? What unconscious longing does it express really? A way OUT of this process, a new world designed to NOT abuse life.

Still, no half-rotting corpse ever has animated itself where I could see for myself it was real, to tell me why or if there is consciousness and a happy place of rest after death. God has not bothered to explain it all to me in any way that can be trusted, and he confuses countless millions of others.

So I ask, can we stop fighting each other? We are conscious of our choices, and we can ignore our biological drives to dominate, and stop fighting for dominance over others. Can we CHOOSE to stop this pointless control game between individuals and nations, stop arguing over who's right about the unknown, this or that territory, wealth, etc.

Can we grow up and realize we all need to get out ... and get the courage to look AT WHAT IS hurting us: our real enemy, this traumatic existence and death. Because as long as we make our enemies each other, and shackle our minds and kill each other over what we believe about the unknown, and make each other our enemies if they believe there is a god or not, or insist to the point of death over which god is the "right" one, insist people modify HOW THEY SEE, so we do not get a clear picture of ourselves in this reality, we will never get out of here alive. We will never find out why things are as they are, and never really understand and perhaps stop what is going on.

Time is crucial now. Either we die fighting each other and exploiting each other and the planet we barely understand, or we get over ourselves. Get over our FEAR and fight death, learn to control/cease the brutality of evolution, instead of trying to make it do what some would prefer, heal the trauma in any way that works that does not destroy our higher, more humane impulses.

And to do this we have to accept the fact that we do not live in a world anyone can reliably predict, totally understand, control or live within without some form of trauma. We do not have to accept this world as is, build civilizations that become cancers and fight each other, do we? We can help each other get out of this mess if we CHOOSE to make trauma, abuse, death, and domination our enemy. If we'd just permit each other to have free thoughts, creativity, non-conformity, support and mental space to find our own perspective, and seek it and share it without condemnation or ridicule ... As we learn more from everywhere and everything, we might find a way out of this world of pain and save the beauty. Because what any of us discover, may help another person finally know good and evil deeply enough to "kill the Cherubim with flashing swords" god put there, that are keeping the world from tasting the fruits of the tree of life".

Our eyes are open. When will we let ourselves SEE?

With SSI being cut, more families will be forced to go into debt, much faster, much deeper, so Bush can fill up all those shiny new debtors prisons. So people can be forced to work for free, to work off obscene "interests" that never will get paid down, debts and interest caused by hospital bills from families struggling to pay what SSI once paid.

The noose is closing in on the wage-slave system. Soon credit lords will create a never-ending excuse for the continuing debt slavery of the American people. Don't believe me? Why was the bankruptcy law changed for the poor, but not for corporations? Why have credit card companies been allowed by law to become more predatory, allowed to hike fees and charge hidden fees at a whim? It's almost as if they want people to STAY in debt. Almost as if.

Abusers of the human impulse of cooperation, trust, and goodwill, just laugh at toothless justice, and keep on abusing, despite what we think or say. Abusers know no shame, because to them might makes them right. Abusers grow more cruel and brazen until someone limits their reach, until their illusion of normalcy is destroyed by the patterns of their actions and it cuts off (or threatens) the "narcissistic supply" -- whatever "reward" it is that they seek, by exercising power over others -- whatever makes them numbs and excuses their depraved, diseased, devouring, sadistic egos, and drives them to deny their consciences and ignore the choices to be the way they are.

Evil is real and it lives in human hearts. Evil is expressed more fully in the hearts that have killed their own conscience for wealth, status, or convenience or even 'survival' and 'self defense'.

If you follow asshole orders from assholes somewhere higher up on that chain of command without question, what does that make you? No matter who you blame, you pulled the trigger. You dropped the bomb that kills.

To me, the unquestioning obedience demanded of the military is the essence of a broken moral character in America and its "leadership. But broken character or not, in the military or not, you are still repsonsible for what you do.

A threat to the traditional insult

by Underground Panther in the Sky
Excerpt:  When sodomy becomes just another flavor of sexual pleasure, then it will hold no more social power of shame over the people who have been hurt, betrayed, shamed, or socially coerced into playing the role of an object to be fucked up. It would have a new meaning. Because it would respect personhood.

The insult (sodomy) would have no more weapon-power. It would cease to be a threat, if the real purpose of the shame was visible. People would be outraged and bite the hand that feeds people these hurtful lies.

The paradox of privacy
by Underground Panther in the Sky
Excerpt:  Why do we desire to have separate houses, separate rooms? Separate tables when we go to restaurants, separate cars?

This desire for a wall of separation between other people is a recent innovation. It is a thing created to manage people and discourage solidarity...

Our culture's need for privacy is manufactured. A social control experiment gone awry. It is the result of a long trend of state sponsored social conditioning.

Losing your religion
and gaining your soul

by Underground Panther in the Sky
Excerpt:  When survival is glorified as the highest law for mankind to live by, you can be corrupted and bribed with the hope of continued success or survival. Eventually, when atrocity touches your life, you must change the "law" in your own heart and stop fearing death and loss and stand up for what is right and speak out loud what is true in your own heart. This means you will refuse to go with the program. You might be an enemy of the state when the state leaders lose their souls, and you choose to side with mercy and keep your integrity even though it could be the end of you.

Your 'borders' piss me off
by Underground Panther in the Sky
Excerpt:  What is a Nation really, but a bit of land mass encircled by an invisible concept, a massive mental fence that says, in effect, this collective 'we', the 'US' people, have pissed here first, and doing such have staked out a claim on this space so you, KEEP OUT.

The unseen hate epidemic
by Underground Panther in the Sky
Excerpt:  As little kids, before we could discern reality from illusions, we were taught by our ignorant well-meaning parents and this sick culture to dehumanize and repress certain aspects of ourselves, as they were deemed 'bad' or shameful. We learned other behaviors were "good, " and in this reward and punishment game we play to survive, we forget compassion. Eventually we learned to separate ourselves from ourselves. We practice excessive inappropriate repression of emotions, and put out of consciousness our own feelings, ideas and thoughts.

We deaden ourselves to ourselves and the pain we feel, we resign by pulling out of life and its various involvements, and settle for less than we deserve. We sell out our potential for what we are told we want. We forget who we are...

The roots of war

by Underground Panther in the Sky
Excerpt:  How can Americans understand democracy if all they know is reward or punishment?

Knowing how and why you make choices, and knowing to choose empowerment over fear of pain is part of recovering your own integrity.

This choice to act with integrity is the key to overcoming abusers in your life as well as abusive urges inside yourself … remembering the choice of NO, I will not ... I won't believe it, do it, shut up about it, or obey ... I can be a voice of empowerment instead of not making waves. This kind of courage can be like an Anti Stockholm syndrome.

The trouble with al Qaeda ...
by Underground Panther in the Sky
Excerpt:  America didn't get to be the richest, most powerful country in the world by being "nice." It is a warlike, greedy country, and full of cutthroat competition. America has used biological weapons: Smallpox-infested blankets were used in the American genocide of the Indian nations, yet because the American people have developed National Alzheimer's disease, they never remember the historical proof of the boldfaced hypocrisies invading their living rooms on TV.

Bush spins away, reading prepared statements he didn't even write, and we nod like robots' heads on a spring.

The Dinosaurs ... I wonder what they would think of all this.

And I wonder if they'd care?

Probably not.

I think they'd eat us like Screaming Yellow Zonkers, Poppycock, or Popeye’s popcorn shrimp.
