Message to Christian America

by Mr Chuckles, Unknown News

April 11, 2006

A friend told me last night that there are 60 million Evangelicals in America who believe in the Rapture, which is why they support Israel's dominion over the Palestinians.

Perhaps "Evangelical" means something other than being Christian. I do not think Christ would support treating anyone the way the Palestinians are being treated, certainly not the Palestinian children.

Slow motion, generational genocide is not Christ-like.

I don't believe there are 60 million Christians in America. My friend must be mistaken. I don't know that there are even sixty real Christians in this country. I may have met a few, but they didn't call themselves anything.

Something is very wrong in this country when the churches support wars against and torturing, of people who didn't even attack us. That might be Old Testament religion, but it is not Christian.

Why are American troops in Iraq? Why did we kill 100,000 Iraqis?

Christ's teachings are made up of at most a few hundred red-letter sentences in the New Testament. Anything that contradicts what he actually said is not part of his teaching.

He didn't teach that people should kill Arabs, stone adulterers, imprison drunkards and addicts, or anything like that. He said, "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone."

Jesus didn't preach about "Faith-Based Initiatives" where the government has to pay churches to perform works of charity. He didn't ask the money-changers to set up shop in churches -- he threw them out of the temple!

On any given Sunday in my town, I can see parking lots full of shiny new cars that cost ten thousand dollars or more. I can see crowds of clean, well-fed, well-dressed people who lack for absolutely nothing. Do these people need taxpayer money to do what their teacher told them to do more than 2000 years ago? If they have not done it yet, what difference will more money from the government make?

I am ashamed of my country. America is not a Christian nation. It is more Nazi than Christian. It sure ain't "the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave" I was brought up believing in. The closest

America is a nation that has lots of people who would like to be Christian, if that cross weren't so heavy, and if it didn't interfere with their lifestyles.

It is time to wake up, you Christians!

You don't need new laws to defeat your temptations, and you don't need new weapons for your armies to defeat your enemies.

What you need is to stop living in the lie.

Right now is the time to actually be what you say you want to be: just like Christ.

approximation might be to say that America is a nation that has lots of people who would like to be Christian, if that cross weren't so heavy, and if it didn't interfere with their lifestyles.

It is time to wake up, you Christians! You don't need people like Senator Bill Frist, Representive Tom DeLay or President George W Bush to defeat your historical enemies or to pass new laws sending sinners to prison for disobeying your Bible!

You don't need new laws to defeat your temptations, and you don't need new weapons for your armies to defeat your enemies. What you need is to stop living in the lie.

Right now is the time to actually be what you say you want to be: just like Christ.

Have mercy, do not judge. Be humble, not proud. Trust in God, not the President. Turn the other cheek, instead of dropping bombs. Love your enemies, don't live in fear. Feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, comfort the broken-hearted, heal the sick! Farm your fields, don't pave them over! Free the prisoners -- and free the jailers too!

Free your selves: confess your wrongs, at least to yourself. Look in the mirror -- who are you fooling?
