media start aiming harpoons!
And the Democratic Party is hard at work on a strategy that's certain to lose November's elections.
OK, let's connect the dots:
A) The US is impotent against the world but powerful enough to start a war against Iran; and
B) If the Democrats get control in November then hearings, impeachment and even indictments are possible, therefore Team Bush is desperate to avoid defeat in the House and Senate... desperate enough to

Bush leverage with Russia, Iran, China falls as oil prices rise| | Excerpt: "It's a geopolitical nightmare," says William Cohen, a former Republican senator from Maine and defense secretary under President Bill Clinton who is now chairman of the Cohen Group, a Washington-based consulting firm. Such nations as Iran, Russia and China
Talking Points Memo| | Excerpt: Mark Schmitt is pointing our attention exactly where it should be: Be warned. The White House is now telling us that engineering a confrontation with Iran is a key part of their plan to resuscitate the president's dismal approval ratings in time to survive election day.
And this is probably as good a time as any to address the question we hear more and more from Democrats: how do we prepare for whatever it is Karl Rove has cooked up this election season? How do Democrats or this or that Democratic candidate 'inoculate' themselves from this year's version of the Swift Boat scam?
With respect, this is loser talk. The 'how will we defend ourselves' conversation is an example of the malady itself masquerading as the cure to the disease.
On a battlefield there is a name for armies that spend all their time and energy planning and conditioning themselves to defend against their opponents' attacks. They're called defeated armies. ... | |

"don't see us as the colossus that can cause them any harm, either by our economy or by our prestige."
... "The high crude prices have tied Bush's hands," says David Goldwyn, president of Goldwyn International Strategies, a Washington-based consulting firm, and an assistant energy secretary during the Clinton administration. "These very high prices really empower other leaders to act with impunity."

start a war with Iran?
Well! I would say that if Bush unilaterally starts a war with Iran then the US is doomed. Even if WWIII doesn't start, the rest of the world will be able to pull the plug on our economy and finances.
Put it like this: if Congress will not act to stop

George before he kills again, you can bet that the rest of the world will act to stop America -- and to make sure that America never again can threaten the world as the lone superpower.
Regardless, the US' days as a superpower are numbered. We're broke, our corporations are fleeing with our jobs and factories, we have no oil of our own, our government is totally incompetent and corrupt (nasty, brutish thugs, at best), and the rest of the world hates us.
Do the math for yourself.
I don't know if November is soon enough to start fixing our problems. If we started today, May 2nd, there probably wouldn't be enough time. And the Democratic Party's strategy of lying back and enjoying Bush's problems

may prove to be successful in getting them elected, but be too late to save the country they say they want to govern.
Did the US win in Afghanistan and Iraq? If so, I don't think the republic can survive another "victory."
Maybe we won a few battles, but somehow Osama bin Laden has engineered a winning hand. It should have been impossible, like a pro football team blowing a 60-0 halftime lead, but the facts are clear:
We are totally doomed unless a miracle happens... and I just don't see any miracles coming, because the religious people in America are the ones who were most supportive of these fucking wars!
