Talk is cheap! Unfortunately Edwards was outed in the debate for voting "Yea" on both the Iraq War and the PATRIOT Act. That was ugly. Dennis Kucinich put it very well about the people on the stage who voted for war, the PATRIOT Act, NAFTA, and China in the WTO: "Can you imagine how it would be in America with a president who was right the first time?" Bottom line: John came out of the debate worse off than when he went in. Part of his problem was Wolf Blitzer and the way the debate was rigged. Hillary and Obama used up 50% of the talk-time, and that egotistical bastard Wolf Blitzer hoovered up another 20%. The remaining tiny allocation was split between Biden, Dodd, Richardson, Edwards and Kucinich, each of whom did very well, I thought, when they finally had a chance to speak... For John Edwards the problem is now partly demeanor. He needs to act AS IF he is already president and quit smiling that slick, sharky lawyer in a $2000 suit and $400 haircut smile. Not trustworthy (unless you already trust him.) The other thing which John needs to do is stay focused on exposing the corruption and the rigged game in D.C., using whatever experience and intel he has. For example, he did not use the debate time to mention his threat to take away the health care of politicians if the politicians refuse to give the people health care (did I miss that? And notice how many other problems disappear completely with universal healthcare: a) soldiers get normal healthcare; b) we Unite people instead of using healthcare to selectively exclude them; c) U.S. businesses can be more competitive if they aren't funding it as part of their payrolls; and d) Medicare becomes a non-issue Also for John: Bill Richardson has a ton of charisma, so try to emulate him. Richardson has a seemingly genuine likability and an attractive humility. I could see "President Richardson" (whereas imagining the horrors of a "President Hillary" freaks me out.) Dennis Kucinich was wonderful tonight. He would be able to do the job, I think. This is the first time I have ever considered him as a realistic potential candidate...except that he doesn't look presidential (more like an Elf just back from Middle Earth.) So... It really looks like Obama and Edwards are taking votes from each other leaving Hillary as the vote-getting leader. For now... If Obama were not in the race then I think John Edwards would easily slam-dunk Hillary and then have no problem winning the presidency. But that is not what the "is" is. The reality is that the race is a huge fur-ball but "Big Media" has already selected Hillary Clinton and are giving her a free ride. Americans will believe just about anything they see on TV and they're seeing respected journalists 1) If Hillary does win, half the country will go into shock and require medical attention. Nothing good will come of it. 2) Obama can only win if an actual Miracle happens because in fact, America is not just race conscious but chock-full of closeted "hatists". There is absolutely no way Barack Obama can be elected president in 2008. 3) Only John Edwards can close the sale AND lead the country in the right direction, in my opinion. © by the author.
