I'm afraid of writing this

I've had a disturbing premonition concerning the election this year. I believe sometime during a debate or similar gathering of all the candidates from both major political parties there will be a 'terrorist' attack. I'm afraid to send this over the internet and worried what might happen if you should publicize this. I suspect I'll be in a deal of trouble once this passes through Carnivore but I wanted it on the record as an "I told you so" for when the world ends. You can print this if you'd like but that might cause trouble. Then again publicity might stave off or make dangerous any nefarious actions. And of course there's always the possibility that I'm being paranoid. It's up to your discretion.

I think that at a critical moment, after all the hype and fear has been built up, after a target has been selected and highlighted in the media, shortly after a new 'Osama Bin Laden' tape is released, a supposed terrorist (in reality a government agent) will detonate a bomb killing most or all of the Democratic candidates in a tightly secured location with dozens of private security corporations and contractors working in concert. It will be regarded as a direct and symbolic attack on the democratic process, it will be quickly linked to the intended target, it will be taken as a declaration of war, and it will cancel the election, defaulting it either to the current regime or a pre-selected candidate that emphasizes that God shielded them from the blast while others died or dropped from the race in fear.

Millions will be made from the systematic failure of the involved companies as with 9/11, providing an elite few with retirement money should the next phase fail miserably.

Security will be tightened at US bases abroad in ways that disregard or even threaten local governments and international law, followed by the outright annexation of the countries that contain them.

The UN at that point will have had enough and launch economic sanctions against the US for the first time.

The US will respond militarily and open war will break out.

A reign of unbridled and incomparable terror will encompass the globe not at the hands of Islamic extremists but at the hands of the one true rogue nation.

(Sorry, I call 'em as I see 'em.)
The American people will believe this at first, and before anyone thinks of dissent a brand new form of martial law will be instated to rounds of applause rather than outrage. Either the world will be encompassed in a devastating nuclear winter resulting from the conflict or we will all succumb to a singular world government based upon murder, deceit, and corruption that will strip us of all freedom and independence under the guise of peace and protection. We're pretty fucked in both cases. I don't see the United States giving up and leaving the world intact, but if that should happen it will be ruined forever, creating a worldwide power vacuum and leaving its citizens extremely screwed.

Here's hoping that I'm crazy or had some bad seafood the night I dreamed this, and possess no more ESP than Miss Cleo. If not, it was nice knowing you and a pleasure being a part of Unknown News.

Your worries indicate nothing more than your obvious awareness of the gravity of the situation and the nature of the men who've stolen American government. If Bush, Cheney, and their handlers thought they could gain power through such an attack -- and thought they could get away with it -- well, I don't think any other considerations would enter their minds.

You understand, I understand, and anyone who's awake understands: We're living in a not-yet worst-case scenario, but the scenario gets worse every time you look. These men are monsters, and the mainstream, corporate-controlled media has no interest at all in reporting the truth of their atrocities. They believe they can get away with anything, because so far, they've gotten away with everything.

So here's the closest I can come to soothing your worries: It's unlikely that you've correctly guessed what they're planning. After all, you're a decent human being, and that leaves you ill prepared to think they way they think.

Overall, you're almost certainly correct about the crushing crescendo of their strategy, the goal they've been building toward since they took the White House: absolute power, absolute tyranny. But most Americans are so sound asleep, I'm sure the Bush-Cheney cabal can accomplish their goals in far more subtle ways.

Because we respect peoples' privacy, we do not keep records of friends' and contributors' contact information. This means we can't forward private communications between readers and writers, but we always welcome dialogue for publication.

When we publish incoming emails, we usually edit out the sender's last name, email address, or anything else that would tend to uniquely identify the author (if we slip up, please let us know). But if your email is unambiguously intended only to annoy, insult, or threaten us, we'll publish all the details, and leave it on-line forever.

We're especially interested in hearing and considering different perspectives. All we ask is that you conduct yourself sanely and civilly. For the most productive dialogue, it helps if you'll cite a specific article or concept we've gotten wrong.

But please, don't email us unless you're really and truly, honestly, actually trying to send the publishers of News a communication you're not sending to anyone or everyone else.

Please don't send attachments or other cr*p we don't want.

If you're trying to reach us but getting no reply, it's probably because you've sent us cr*p we don't want, so we're filtering your emails into the trash, unopened and unread.
