Atlas shrugs, again

by Mahdi Abdul Finkelstein, Unknown News       April 12, 2008

We're seeing The Man taking the fall from self-inflicted wounds now, and it is instructive to learn from current events.

General Electric reported a big shortfall in earnings on Friday, after the CEO had said 10% growth is "in the bag" and assured everyone. GE is heavily leveraged and took their hits in the finance
department, just like these banks and brokerages have done. Stock falls 10%. Ouch.

The lesson: during the Bush Regime each major industry, including even pharma-
ceuticals, has received major freebies from the Bushies. They've gone to the Oval Office and begged for regulatory relief, or they've relied on cheap money and bailouts, or they've sucked up on no-bid contracts and sweetheart deals. And
A few parasites are tolerable, but if the entire system is covered with heart worms, ticks, lice, bedbugs, viruses and oozing wounds, then no-one profits.

And at that point, Atlas shrugs, and goes into self-defense mode, saving itself.
each has gone away from D.C. thinking, "We're really going to clean up now!"

And for a while that was true, but what they failed to realize is that the profits from their corrupt dealings cannot offset the losses if the entire system is corrupted.

In other words, a few parasites are tolerable, but if the entire system is covered with heart worms, ticks, lice, bedbugs, viruses and oozing wounds, then no-one profits. And at that point, Atlas shrugs, and goes into self-defense mode, saving itself.

By all rights, these white collar criminals should be in Hell, wearing maid uniforms, and getting pineapples shoved up their asses each morning at 9 AM. But since they use Cross pens instead of .38 Specials, that doesn't generally happen, unless The Man needs a fall guy to take the blame as part of an overall cover-up.

The biggest problem is really credibility, though. The other day I heard this Jim Cramer guy on CNBC claim that it was irresponsible of Alan Greenspan to flatly state that the US is in a recession. It's irresponsible to tell the truth?

That's what we see in corrupt regimes everywhere: truth-telling is allowed only when the news is good, otherwise it's all lies and obfuscation.

And once The People realize that the government (remember Katrina?) won't even sound the alarm when the water is rising, so the entire System is at risk. We realize that "They" are constantly lying to us and trying to cover their asses -- while siphoning off our money to their accounts -- and at that point, their credibility is gone forever... along with profits.

Got to watch what they do. When their lips are moving that means they are lying. End of story :-)
