Obama's "get out the vote" emails delayed
I entered my name on the Obama website and had been receiving emails from it. Today, I again received some. Oddly enough, all were sent to remind me to be sure that I made it to the polls in time to cast my ballot. Now, this is April 23, 2008. Our primary was yesterday, April 22, 2008. A little late to do any good! When I went in to the properties feature, I discovered that the one had been sent on April 21 at 1:37 PM and was received on April 23 at 3:03 AM. The other was sent on April 22 at 4:19 PM and got to me at 10:17 PM on April 23. A third from Michelle Obama (actually all were sent from pa@barackobama.com) was sent 4/22 at 6:28 AM and received 4/23 at 1:20 PM. Now, my family laughs because I tend to be a little suspicious of certain things and look at some conspiracy theories as being plausible. So, who isn't suspicious lately? The government lie? You're kidding, right? Not the United States; it's everyone else. The oil companies screwing us over? Can't be. They just need the money to make up for lean times when reserves are high. Almost everyone I know is a little paranoid lately. Anyway, why were these particular emails so late? The slowest of all my others was about 5 hours; the rest were sent and received within minutes, sometimes seconds. Only the three relating to making it to the primary election (from the PA Obama site) to vote for Barack Obama somehow got lost in cyberspace and arrived the day after the election. Who is Comcast endorsing? Is some other ISP interfering? Is there a mole in the Obama camp? Have aliens messed with our satellite transmissions? If it is none of the above, then the Obama site better get its sh*t together. It certainly doesn't take my other email that long to get here. With the future of our country at stake, it is no comfort to think that snail mail might be quicker than the Internet. If it is one of the other options, I hope to heck it's the aliens. Oh, I did send a reply to the Pennsylvania Obama site and sent an email to the main site as well. If I receive an explanation for this dilemma, I'll pass it along. If any of your readers knows the answer, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for the fine work that you do and it's always enlightening and a pleasure to visit your site. It's been a long time since I've written but I'm still
I received another email from the Obama campaign today
Because we respect peoples' privacy, we do not keep records of friends' and contributors' contact information. This means we can't forward private communications between readers and writers, but we always welcome dialogue for publication. When we publish incoming emails, we usually edit out the sender's last name, email address, or anything else that would tend to uniquely identify the author (if we slip up, please let us know). But if your email is unambiguously intended only to annoy, insult, or threaten us, we'll publish all the details, and leave it on-line forever. We're especially interested in hearing and considering different perspectives. All we ask is that you conduct yourself sanely and civilly. For the most productive dialogue, it helps if you'll cite a specific article or concept we've gotten wrong. You can contact Helen & Harry at <newsuneed at yahoo.com>. If that address ever fails, our back-up email address is <unknownnews at inbox.com>. But please, don't email us unless you're really and truly, honestly, actually trying to send the publishers of News a communication you're not sending to anyone or everyone else. Please don't send attachments or other cr*p we don't want. If you're trying to reach us but getting no reply, it's probably because you've sent us cr*p we don't want, so we're filtering your emails into the trash, unopened and unread. If you'd like to have your email address unblocked, simply send a sincere apology (from an un-blocked email address).
