Mercenaries looking for a few bad men
Rehired KBR driver in Iraq caught with child porn -- again| | Excerpt: A former bus driver for Iraq war contractor KBR Inc. who was fired in 2006 for possessing child pornography got rehired less than a year later, and has again been caught with a large collection of child porn, according to prosecutors. ... |
Huh. Considering the kind of shit these private military contractors have been getting up to in Iraq, I have to
wonder if

There's a fairly obvious downside to letting potentially unbalanced and ethically
challenged hired guns who owe allegiance to their company before their country reside
above the law.
If there's an upside to giving these companies free reign to regulate
themselves and letting them act as a military despite hiring madmen and perverts, I'm just
not seeing it.

| all that child porn was shot on the job by his coworkers. I suppose then they'd
be nailing him for leaking company secrets such as their sociopaths' fringe benefit
package and classified interrogation techniques which include roughing up, robbing, and
raping people who have nothing to do with anything... All of which seems to be
government-sanctioned.
Seriously, these guys get away with pretty much everything. They don't just have a 'Get
out of Jail Free' card, when they should be headed to prison they automatically get the
shortcut to Go, collect their $200, and then burn down the houses on Baltic Avenue for
good measure. (Sorry about the excessive Monopoly jokes.)

Hmm. Maybe we need to get incriminating photos or other evidence of some kind of
pet/skeet-shooting competition at their company picnics in order for these guys to be held
accountable for all the murder they're being paid to commit and the rape they're doing
just for fun. Until something furry and adorable dies a senseless and tragic death, I
suppose nobody's going to care enough to really launch any action. After all, the only
victims are men women and children from some filthy, dirt-poor, third-world country full
of terrorists that already live under the constant threat of death and destruction. Not
like it counts as a crime or terrorism if it happens to people who share the same
nationality/ethnicity as a terrorist.
I guess that could be the next Kafka Comic: Give a sh*t! Give a shit or the kitten gets
it!

Because we respect peoples' privacy, we do not keep records of friends' and contributors' contact information. This means we can't forward private communications between readers and writers, but we always welcome dialogue for publication.
When we publish incoming emails, we usually edit out the sender's last name, email address, or anything else that would tend to uniquely identify the author (if we slip up, please let us know). But if your email is unambiguously intended only to annoy, insult, or threaten us, we'll publish all the details, and leave it on-line forever.
We're especially interested in hearing and considering different perspectives. All we ask is that you conduct yourself sanely and civilly. For the most productive dialogue, it helps if you'll cite a specific article or concept we've gotten wrong.

Please don't send attachments or other cr*p we don't want.
If you're trying to reach us but getting no reply, it's probably because you've sent us cr*p we don't want, so we're filtering your emails into the trash, unopened and unread.
