But he retired from the military in 1980, divorced his first wife, wed Arizona native Cindy Lou Hensley and moved here to plunge into the world of politics. His first job in Arizona was as a public affairs agent for Hensley & Company, one of the nation's largest beer distributors. The idiots are the (mostly mythical) Clinton supporters who can't get over the primaries. What she said last night is if they're not voting for Obama, they were never really Clinton supporters in the first place. Much of the rest of the speech was for the media, drunk with power and forced to fill too many hours, creating dissent where little to none exists. Of course Hillary Clinton believes she should be the nominee. She'll believe that until the day she dies. But she's not a destructive egomaniac, as the mainstream media desperately need her to be.

Comment: The Rude one nails it again. Whatever you may think of Hillary, you have to admit the speech was damn good. I can't help thinking of a very different speech that was given many years ago by a former Mayor of NYC under different circumstances. Both of which showed that they were not the entirely the lowlifes people wanted them to be or thought they were. The speech I'm referring to was given by Jimmy Walker when he resigned. And as one reporter was said to have observed. "You just witnessed an man cut his own throat in the middle of Yankee Stadium. And never has it been done with so much finesse." I do not agree with her politics and approach but I must admit that she can show pragmatism and synergy when necessary. Something that you generally do not find in Republicans. Chris M. PERMANENT LINK

Scientists discover leptin can also aid type 1 diabetics

Excerpt: The fact that these animals don t die and are restored to normal health despite a total lack of insulin is hard for many researchers and clinicians to believe, said Dr. Roger Unger, professor of internal medicine and senior author of the study. And on the South West Coast to boot.

Within a couple of weeks we experienced our first storm. Hurricane Cleo. It did not hit Naples, our new home, directly. It went ashore on the east coast near Miami. But we got enough of it to scare the willies out of my mother. Of course us kids thought it was great and exciting.

This was followed by Betsy, to our south, in 1965. Alma to our west and Inez to our south in 1966. Abby to our north and Gladys to our north in 1967.

Well, let's just say that by 1969 we had become either used to the whole routine or maybe just numb. Flooding and wind was what you got in the summer, if you were not satisfied with the oppressive heat and stifling humidity.

We also learned that these things go wherever they darn well please and predicting their behavior -- track, speed, strength -- is akin to picking the next race at Belmont. A lot of waiting and seeing.

Even now, with all their super computers and models, the National Hurricane Center still has trouble and the best they really can do is tell you where it is, how strong it is and it's current direction. Ha, ha.

Below is a detailed presentation about the latest malware invasion trend which assaulted me personally several times over past weeks. You almost can't go deep anywhere on the net right now without encountering it. And once, I ran into it on only the 2nd hot links page of either Reddit or Digg (can't recall which).

Anatomy of a malware scam

JR Mooneyham (www.jrmooneyham.com/)

What if McCain 'wins'?

by MonkeyMan Thursday, August 28, 2008 PERMANENT LINK

I was thinking... what if McCain "wins" the election? I think there would need to be nationwide protests, demonstrations, yadda yadda. The blog pages are a great way to coordinate. The Republican election theft machine was caught a little short in the 2006 Congressional elections, as the Democratic turnout was a bit bigger than the Republican vote-rigging and vote suppression efforts, but I don't think the Republican criminals will make that mistake again. Basically, in any state with electronic voting machines, Barack Obama needs to win by at least 6-7 points to win by even a fraction of a percentage point. And as the media continues soft-pedaling McCain's frequent mis-statements, stupid statements, gaffes, and colossally fooling policy positions, it's becoming more and more difficult for Obama to build the lead he'll neat to beat the cheats.

If McCain "wins", though, there won't be protests in the street, because the media simply won't cover election theft. We've seen it be not at all covered in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006, and I understand there were early but obvious election irregularities in 1998. So I'm pretty close to certain that if this election is stolen too, it won't be covered in the media, and if it isn't mentioned in the media we can't seriously expect to see protests in the street.

Helen & Harry Highwater
unknownnews at inbox.com

OK, consider my balloon thoroughly popped. I was one of them -- the difference between prison and school eluded me when I was a child, and I skipped school a lot. If they'd had the technology to shackle my ankle with something like this, if they'd tracked me down and forced me to attend school five days a week, I can't imagine the fury I would have felt. I wasn't psychotic, just a weird but basically harmless kid, but even years later I know that this kind of enforcement would've made me violent. The US is bankrupt and the only way out is to try and gain control of the world's resources, particularly the existing oil reserves.
