Attack of the Heebie Jeebies by Hazel Burke The final days of the McCain campaign are giving us a mighty spew of Fearonomics. Over on CNBC there have been numerous attempts to link the stock market decline to Obama's rise in
These attacks on our sanity make about as much sense as the reports of massive gun buying in Texas because of the potential win by Obama. Sure, some people feel the need for more guns, and what is wrong with that -- it doesn't mean that after the election there will be riots in the streets one way or another. It's all too simplistic, and hence we know it is just more propaganda. Look at the source of the rumors and assertions. In reality, a) most corporations and rich people do not pay 35% in taxes, and half of corporations pay no taxes whatsoever; and b) can anyone claim that business profits are so great now under the Bush Regime and still claim that the main reason for stock market sell-offs isn't about f*ck up but is because Barack Obama *might* raise taxes someday? Gimme a break. Furthermore, rich people actually have the luxury of deciding how much they want to pay in taxes each year. Maybe they sell some investments and realize their gains, or maybe not -- mostly they're sitting back on piles of investments and assets that generate enough dividends and interest payments so that they don't need to sell anything unless they feel like paying Uncle Sam some income tax. These people who are supposedly driving the markets down by selling out of fear of Obama are basically Invincible and Invulnerable to anything -- they make money when markets crash and they make money when markets rise, because that is the way the Game is set up. Finis. Hazel Burke PERMANENT LINK I especially like "attacks on our sanity", cuz that's really what it's all been ... and give my regards to Wall Street but out here in the real world we've been in recession since the late 1990s at least, and I'm awfully weary of all the worry about the rich f*ckers while nobody gives a fat flying f*ck in hell about ordinary people. | Latest entry | Recent entries | Older entries | |
