'Songbird' McCain

by Hope2012       Sunday, August 3, 2008         PERMANENT LINK

I've been watching the 2008 election circus with sad amusement. My friends all seem to have watched this Onion video on how to pretend to give a shit about the election. From my point of view, there's no substantive difference between McCain and Obama, and the system is rigged, if not entirely, enough to only allow two candidates. However, for those of you interested in reading more on the horrible possibilities of a McBama presidency:

Obama does not represent change -- he is intended to placate the ‘left’ - 7/12/08

More reasons not to vote for McCain: his personal character, his traitorous behavior
in Vietnam, and of course his positions on the issues and fascist tendencies
- 7/13/08

McCain vs. Obama - What’s the difference? 7/26/08

I also spent a bit of time looking into the allegations that McCain was a coward and a traitor to the United States during Vietnam, a pampered son who only survived thanks to his perceived value by the North Vietnamese. There's plenty of evidence in his own version of the story, but I found it interesting that there wasn't a better compilation of the different narratives out there. So I posted one:

‘Songbird’ McCain: The evidence - in his own words, his fellow veterans, and his captors

I wish you all the best in these interesting times,

Hope2012
Obama will have to pick up his sellout pace quite a bit before I'll see "no substantive difference" between him and McCain, but your perspective is always appreciated. I especially got a kick from the last link, ‘Songbird’ McCain, which deals well and adds some serious substantiation to some things I've heard whispers about concerning McCain the "heroic" POW. Very thanks.

One little letter

by Herb Ruhs, MD       Sunday, August 3, 2008         PERMANENT LINK

All we need to do to get a clear picture of the nature of the "War on Terror" is to change a single letter and rewrite it as "War of Terror."

Technical difficulties

by SirJ       Sunday, August 3, 2008         PERMANENT LINK

I've been unable to look at pages on your website for the last two days when I use Internet Explorer 7. When I use Firefox, I have no problem. The problem is happening with every page on your website EXCEPT http://www.unknownnews.org/dailyRSS.html. You can view the error message I get here. As you can see, the page partially loads before halting. When I click OK in the error message, the screen changes to the typical "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." It doesn't bother me because I switch to Firefox. Thought you might like to know in case somebody else sends an e-mail and this would help you track down the problem. It started happening to me yesterday, Friday, Aug 1.

SirJ
Curious that it would happen on Friday. We only change our home page once a week, so the code on that page was the same on Thursday and Wednesday and Tuesday and Monday... But I appreciate the heads-up, even as I sigh loudly. I guess it's time to do our once every year or two debugging of the code ... I just spent 45 minutes and snagged four errors (not counting the dozens of recurrences of two errors that we've had as part of our code for years with no problems). Hope that helps it load?

Anyone else having problems?

An almost certainly unrelated complaint: We had weird on-line problems all last week, with some pages refusing to load and other pages acting odd and other pages behaving normally. After several days of bluffing from our ISP's so-called service department, we found out Friday night (from an article in the local paper) that the ISP itself -- Charter Communications, may they burn in hell -- had been the problem all week, and either keeping their own service department in the dark or letting them lie to frustrated customers. My money's on the latter, especially as the problems have continued, leaving us off-line all Saturday evening and most of Sunday.
